The oppressive heat was defeated by an incoming cold front, breaking down the temperatures from 95 to 75, lowering the humidity and puffing up the clouds. It’s a welcome change. Yes.
There’s always another side, even to a beautiful day. I began to sneeze, 3-4 in a row in the afternoon; by evening, my throat felt like a razor blade and my head was throbbing around my eyes…that’s right..the Dreaded Snot of seasonal allergies. It starts out thin and runny, then begins to jam up your nasal sinuses and obstruct the eustachian tubes until your entire head is full of thick, wet, mucous. To make matters worse, I didn’t have any of my personal standby, Allegra, so I dug up some old Benadryl, evidently too old to actually work. because I had a miserable Friday night. Saturday morning, I decided to start with the Sudafed we had around and that was a flawed decision, to say the least. By the time I had nursed myself through three every-four-hour doses, my heart was racing, my stomach was bolting, and the headache, snot, and sore throat were as awful as ever. I spent the night coughing, wheezing, and throwing up…ready to write my will. This morning, Casey went down to CVS and bought some Allegra and voila! Now I am just another clogged cranium walking around with kleenex up my nose…but at least I’m walking.
Last week was a busy one: I took Olivia to and from school a couple of days; Sister and I did our sing-a-long; My school broke ground for our new gym and all the bigwigs and TV stations were out, Here’s what else has been happening here at Sonnystone…
The 98% finished room…
We’ve got the furniture put back into our freshly carpeted room, and nearly everything on our newly painted walls. (I have a rather inspired idea for behind the couch, but it will take a while)
The stereo is back…
The last several months I’ve listened mostly to music from my computer, using cheap speakers and/or headphones, and I’m just Not Feeling it. Even Melissa had noticed that the listening music was a little under-represented during her visit. Since it’s an essential component of my personal well-being, music, played loud from speakers that have some decent bass/woofers, has made a comeback…
I guess I’m going to have to break down and buy those CD’s I downloaded from the library…the cognitive dissonance is getting to me…(is it stealing? or just borrowing?)
Harvesting…
This should probably be over on the gardening blog… We brought in the tomatoes and the basil before I was laid low by the Snot. I’m feeling almost well enough to get out and pull in the sunflowers and rearrange the front perennials (that will be on the garden blog!)
Get ready for some pesto, friend…
Sneak Preview…
While I’ve whined and swigged toddies, Casey has been planting trees!!! We bought a tulip poplar and a heritage river birch and he’s just about got them in the ground…
That just about catches us up…
