day #82 of 82…

82 days ago i started my summer-blogging project, cleverly called “82 days”.  the goal was to blog every day of my sabbatical, keeping you abreast of my deep thoughts and meaningful activities.  i Have managed to share 68 of those 82 days with you, more or less, so i’m calling it a success.  to wrap it up, today’s post is about yesterday,  mostly, with a little bit about tomorrow.

we’d planned all summer to head down to cheekwood botanical garden in nashville to see their Treehouse display and the date we had set was last sunday…who could have guessed that we’d get rained out?!  Rained Out!  so we carpe’d the diem yesterday, a day custom-made for being outside.

the treehouses were actually a disappointment, not at all swiss-family-robinsonesque…  but we love cheekwood and grabbed a box lunch and a couple of beers and had lunch on a roomy bench in the seasons garden…

we stopped at the parthenon, hoping to catch a glimpse of the goddess or at least some illuminati, but it was closed for renovation (hmm, sounds suspicious).  beautiful park…

then it was down to broadway, our favorite part of nashville…  many new things down on broadway, lots of folks enjoying the music that pours from every door as you walk down the street.  this was new:

we must try this sometime

we did our usual stop by robert’s..

and had the World’s Best BBQ at jack’s…

then cruised back to henderson to join donna and her adoring hubby, lennie, at the bluegrass festival.  surprise, surprise, lana and charley were there, as well!  good music, beautiful evening…

back home at sonnystone after the festival, we headed down to the meadow to watch the perseid meteors…counted 25 between 1 and 1:30am.   verry cool…

i’m off to the track today and back to school all day tomorrow, setting up my office and getting ready for 6th-grade orientation tomorrow evening.  i’ll be working every day for the next 13, but i’m looking forward to it…  it’s been a great summer vacay…
